OUR STORY
The Name.
Lub Dub is the medical term for the sound the heart makes. Our hearts beat for conscious, sustainable Denim worn with pride everyday by everyone.
The Idea.
It all started when founder Kiki, single mother of two little girls, got the advice that she should fit in some "me time". Kiki could see that the sentiment was genuine but there were no solutions on offer. A seed was planted in her mind.
As time went on Kiki became very driven to finding little hacks and ideas that could help parents in their day to day life. What could put that little silver lining on their day?
One day, out of the blue, appeared a person dressed in dungarees, and the thought of sticking a child in the bib was sparked.
Being a dungaree fan, Kiki thought that if she stuck her youngest daughter in the bib of the dungarees, she could get her hands free to perform various tasks.
Stashing essentials in the pockets of the dungaree she could even go places with her daughter without having to bring the nappy bag or the baby carrier. It was a quick fix garment - the parent workwear!
The idea developed and turned into the product that you see today. The Dungaroo.
Nina joined Kiki in the quest of creating a must-have, sustainably produced Parent Workwear in August 2021. Being friends since many years, they are since that date a team that shares the amazing journey of Lub Dub Denim side by side.
Reduce - Reuse - Recycle.
As you may have understood by this point we are very conscious of reducing textile waste.
Primarily we make a garment that will last a very long time so you don't have to buy more clothes.
Secondarily, we want to make a dent in the mountain of textile waste that there is in the world. We have a unique composition of cotton that we use to make the Dungaroo: 80% is organic cotton and 20% recycled cotton.
The reason we cannot go higher in the recycled fibers is that the recycled fibers are cut and are therefore not as strong as virgin fibers. With the Dungaroo being made to carry children we need to get the balance just right, so it is strong enough to withhold the carrying a small person over the Dungaroos lifetime.
Our denim is dyed with a groundbreaking closed circuit system, eliminating water and chemical waste. It is called DyePro. This system puts our denim into a much more environmentally friendly position than other denim.
